Pierer Industrie takes over Syntace and Liteville brands

Pierer Industry AG has announced the majority shareholder buyout of the co-existing Syntace components and Liteville bike brands.

The Austrian bike and motorsports giant has been targeting aggressive expansion in a bid to cement its place as one of Europe’s larger manufacturers and exporters of brands like KTM, GasGas and most recently, Felt Bicycles too.

Based in Tacherting, component manufacturer Syntace is the parent to the Liteville bike brand. Started in the early nineties, Syntace has been amongst the industry’s innovators in the components and wheelsets space, pioneering the X-12 Thru Axle, among other award-winning innovations.

Translated from German, Pierer’s statement offers: “The innovative strength of Syntace and its competent, technical staff is an ideal addition to the Group, in which technology and know-how transfer between the different companies is a key success factor.”

The German press release suggested that Austrian distributor Funbike GmbH will be the first outlet for supply into the domestic market with other arrangements to follow.
