Pon rumoured to have invested in OneUp Components

Published, but unconfirmed rumours are circulating that the Pon Bike arm has made a strategic investment in mountain bike label OneUp Components.

In what might make sense as part of a move to further enhance its finishing kit portfolio, if true, the investment may presumably give the Cannondale and Santa Cruz parent improved access to kit like pedals, dropper posts and some high-spec drivetrain goods, as well as innovative accessories such as hidden tool kits.

As it stands, OneUp Components sells directly into the market from its website and is not known as an OEM supplier, however the brand does accept dealer requests from bricks and mortar bike stores.

Pinkbike was able to tap Sam Richards, OneUp’s Founder and current owner for a comment that neither confirmed nor denied the rumour, but that made clear the company remains privately owned.

“OneUp is a small, privately owned Canadian company based in Squamish, BC. We don’t discuss our financial details publicly. Lots has changed in the last nine years, but our focus and motivation remain the same. We started out as three engineers making the parts we wanted for our bikes. Chris, Jon, and I are still running OneUp, still in Squamish, and still making the parts we want for our bikes. But now we have an awesome team of sixteen more riders helping us. We’re stoked to share our latest components with you soon,” said Richards.

Found within the Pon group are component brands like Fabric, bread and butter bike shop staple BBB and Reserve Wheels.

Earlier this month it was confirmed that Pon had bought out consumer direct bike label Veloretti, which you can learn more about here.
