Porsche developed Cyklær e-bike wins reddot design award

Porsche Digital have won the 2022 reddot “Best of the Best” design award for the Cyklær e-bike.

As is highlighted, “For the launch, Porsche Digital has teamed up with renowned bicycle manufacturer Storck and with the help of component manufacturers Greyp and Fazua to bring an innovative, sporty e-bike to market: the Cyklær Bike.”

Studio shot of bike at 45 degree angleWith Porsche now owning both Greyp and Fazua the brand has extensive cycling industry specific knowledge and capabilities within the group, allied to a long standing partner relationship with Storck.

“Under the new Cyklær bike brand, Porsche Digital is developing a platform for digital services related to the cycling experience. The e-gravel is characterized by the combination of digital technology, innovative design and high-quality bicycle construction.”

The Cyklaer E-Gravel is equipped with integrated GPS tracking, its own SIM, Wifi, Bluetooth, motion sensors, plus integrated front and rear cameras.

With the use of the Cyklaer app (currently on in the Apple App Store) the rear camera enables riders to us a digital rear view mirror, whilst both cameras also provide live video recording, along with GPS

App on phone mounted to handlebar showing rear view along with ride datanavigation and tracking. A Komoot integration is provided, enabling riders to explore new routes.

The ride dashboard hosts all ride data, including power meter, heart rate and calorie data, as well as navigation information.

The brand highlights that, “over-the-air updates help to continually improve” performance and ride experience.

For the more conventional e-bike components, the spec list is as follows:

  • E-Gravel is built around a carbon fibre frame
  • Fazua Ride 50 Trail motor delivering 58Nm of torque and 250w battery
  • Sram Rival AXS takes care of the drive train and brake components
  • Customers having a choice of DT Swiss alloy G1800 or upgrading to Carbon GRC 1400 wheelsets
  • Schwalbe G-One tyres
  • Weight 14.5kg

Functioning as a fully developed e-comm website, customers are able to spec pedals, from a choice of 3, choose from a selection of locks, select a phone mount case, and option a down tube protector, as part of the purchase process.
