Road Round-Up: New products from Gore, Bont and Fizik

Gore, Bont and Fizik have all launched new models, what do they have in common? They are all designed to make your ride more comfortable.

Gore Launch a new concept in Bib-Short Design

GORE® Wear is kicking off its 2019 Spring/Summer Collection with a completely new bib shorts concept. The design is called ‘central torso architecture’ and keeps the seat insert in the correct position, ensuring maximum comfort.

The collection comprises three purpose-built bib shorts designs – one for competitive racers, one for cyclists who spend a long time in the saddle and one for hot weather conditions. One person who has been deeply involved in the development: Olympic cycling champion Fabian Cancellara.

Head of Design at GORE® Wear, Clemens Deilmann, had the idea several years ago: a bib shorts design that stems from the central torso and keeps the seat insert in the correct position no matter what. ‘Wonderfully unobtrusive’ – the verdict from Fabian Cancellara, current Olympic champion and GORE® Wear ambassador, who was involved in the development at an early stage, especially when it came to the fit and details such as leg cuffs, seam placement or the degree of compression.

Bont Cycling Launch a Sub £100 Road Shoe

Bont Cycling bring their technological advances to a new price point of £99.00 with the introduction of the new Riot Buckle Road Shoe. This shoe combines Bont’s pro series technical features with a fully carbon composite heat mould-able shoe which will be available with a micro adjustable buckle retention system and available in two colours (White/Black or Black/White).

Weighing in at 295g per shoe for a size 42, Bont claim they retain many of the qualities of their higher priced shoes – being heat mould-able over the entire chassis.

Fizik launches new central channel design

All three fizik performance road saddles – Arione, Antares and Aliante – are now available with the Versus Evo full central channel design, and with the highest specification level. The Versus Evo channel provides pressure relief on the soft tissue, effective on rides of any length or intensity.

The majority of the rider’s weight is transferred to the sides of the saddle, bearing on the ischial (‘sit’) bones and is evenly distributed across the surface of the saddle – crucially ensuring that pressure is not placed on the delicate soft tissue which is accommodated by the central channel.

Fizik saddles are used by WorldTour teams AG2R La Mondiale, BMC Racing Team, Movistar Team, Team LottoNL-Jumbo and Team Sky. The length, width and ergonomically designed contour of the channel are created for maximum comfort, following a detailed and extensive research, designing and testing program.

“Of course, we know that riders come in all different shapes and sizes and that the human anatomy can vary a little, or a lot, from one rider to the next. It’s this that we always remember when we consider the full range of models we create and make available to all our customers worldwide,” says Luca Mathia Bertoncello, fizik’s Brand Director.

The new saddles are available worldwide now priced at €350.00 / $400.00 / £324.99
