Santini introduce 2 sustainable technical cycling apparel wash solutions

Santini has launching 2 products on their website which are said to make cyclists’ and athletes’ laundry eco-friendly.

To wash sports garments in a sustainable way, the Italian cycling and triathlon technical apparel company has partnered with Surfchimica Srl, who specialise in developing environmental sustainable laundry products, to create a specific detergent solution.

The result is Power Clean Sport – a completely biodegradable detergent made without dyes and phosphates – that provides sustainable washing as well as ensuring that garments are kept in an optimal state.

In addition, Power Clean Sport is nickel and phosphates free and contains no skin irritants. It is a hypoallergenic and dermatologically tested eco-friendly detergent.

Since sports garments are made of synthetic fabrics, when they are washed, they lose microplastic particles that inevitably end up in wastewater. These microparticles enter the sea, where they can be eaten by marine animals and fishes.

Guppyfriend special textile weave bags, inside which garments will be placed during washing, reduces fibre breakage, protect garments, and retain plastic fibres that are caught in them and can later be thrown in the plastic recycling box.

Earlier this year Santini announced it was part with distributor ZyroFisher after more than 20 years of partnership.

Of the move, Monica Santini, CEO of Santini Cycling comments, “We are extremely grateful of the work  and dedication that ZyroFisher and all its people have put into distributing Santini in the UK. We have worked well together for a long time.”
