Schmolke Carbon acquires THM Carbones from 3T
A new “made in Germany powerhouse” will be created by Schmolke Carbon moving to acquire THM Carbones.
The deal was signed and effective from January 1st of this year, with former owner 3T Cycling selling on a brand it bought itself in June of 2016.
According to a statement issued today the takeover will create “a full range supplier for carbon bicycle components made in Germany at highest level quality.”
“THM has held knowledge in the RTM (Resin Transfer Molding) process for almost 25 years. Together with our 28-year’s of experience in the prepreg vacuum process we will manufacture every new product using its best suitable process.” says Stefan Schmolke, founder of Schmolke Carbon. “I will only merge both development departments so that we can offer our new ideas faster to the demanding cyclist. Further I want THM to produce more MTB parts again.”
Production, sales and customer support will remain separately in each company. THM Carbones and Schmolke Carbon will both remain independent companies.
The previous owner 3T Cycling S.R.L. is happy to see THM join up with Schmolke.
“We enjoyed working with THM on expanding the model line, improving the distribution network and streamlining production in both Germany and at our own carbon factory in Italy,” explains Rene Wiertz, CEO of 3T. “Now is the perfect time for us to focus on the Italian factory and for THM to grow further with Stefan’s support.”
3T was advised by Keating International sas for this transaction.
