Sea Otter Classic adds Executive Summit featuring outdoor and cycle leaders
Life Time, the organiser of the USA-based Sea Otter Classic has announced the addition of a new Executive Summit that will aim to pull the leaders of the outdoor, cycle and endurance sports categories together behind goals on climate and mobility.
The upcoming Sea Otter Classic Summit is not far off now, running April 5th to 7th in Monterey, California. The Summit will run just prior to the main event’s kick off.
“Bringing panels and sessions such as this to our first-ever Sea Otter Classic Summit will provide much needed conversation and movement as the outdoor categories are part of an economic sector that employs four million people, is worth more than half a trillion dollars, and has expanded rapidly over the past two years,” said Kimo Seymour, President of Events and Media at Life Time. “Historically, each category has been viewed as an individual industry, yet experience shows that they are intimately connected by a rapidly-evolving, shared customer.”
The Summit features the first-ever panel on the outdoor recreation community’s role to shape policy, reverse the scale of climate change, and create a more inclusive outdoors experience through public and private partnerships. The discussion will be led by Katie Hawkins, California Program Manager at Outdoor Alliance and California’s Outdoor Recreation Commissioner. The panel includes:
- Wade Crowfoot, Secretary, California Natural Resources Agency
- Marc Berejka, Director, Community Advocacy & Impact, REI Co-op
- Vipe Desai, Executive Director, Surf Industry Members Association
A three-part session on e-mobility will begin with venture-capital executive Dennis “DJ” Jenson with MidOcean Partners, who will speak to the opportunity of e-mobility and findings from a lengthy research project designed to anchor a new investment fund in e-mobility. From there, Fox Racing CEO Jeff McGuane will share why Fox Racing is about to enter its biggest growth curve to date, hinging on e-bike and e-moto. McGuane will be followed by a leading RV brand executive, who will present the path to launching a new e-RV chassis.
Additional speakers and discussion topics will be announced throughout February. Futurist’ Chris Riddell is the Summit’s opening keynote speaker and will discuss the continually changing global economy and business landscape driven by ongoing consumer evolution, providing a forward view to executives.
Registration for the Summit is now open. Attendee numbers will be limited to ensure the most productive, in-person networking and learning possible. Executives interested in attending are encouraged to register at seaotterclassicsummit.com.
