Seattle outdoor e-tailer EVO buys Denver’s Bicycle Doctor

Outdoor e-commerce site Evo.com has acquired Denver duo Bicycle Doctor and associated ski business Edgeworks.

“We are very excited to work with Evo,” says Matt Hupperts, owner of Edgeworks and The Bicycle Doctor. “From ecommerce to store locations, Evo brings so much to the retail platform. Working together we can build on our vision of service, rental, and demo to complete that experience at an even greater level.”

All under one roof, the Edgeworks and Bicycle Doctor business offers snowsport and bicycle rental, service and repair at the 860 Broadway in Denver, CO shop. The store, which has 25 years of service under its belt, is well known in Colorado and will soon be set for renovation to reflect the new ownership. The store is expected to open for fall 2016.

“Growing our reach and creating community-focused experiences is central to where we are taking Evo, and we are grateful to have this opportunity to partner with Matt,” said Phillips. “He has a great team with an exceptional reputation, and we have a shared commitment to doing something special in the Denver market together. Professionally and personally, this is exciting for me given a strong, lifelong connection to Colorado – my mom grew up in Allenspark, CO and my wife’s family lives in Denver – and we have long looked at how Evo could be more involved in the state.”

Evo has established stores in Seattle and Portland. The acquisition will see the expansion of the firm’s Familia program, something which sees customers benefit from free local delivery in partnership with independent specialists around the country.
