Specialized UK shunts to omni-channel model with S_Connect platform

Specialized UK is to follow the strategy already implemented in the US and Australian markets, moving to an online sale and dealer pairing platform, dubbed S_Connect.

By opting-in, S_Connect will provide retailers with the opportunity to present their Specialized inventory on Specialized.com, in real time, which is then accessed by the consumer via a ‘Find Nearby’ button. Specialized UK will open the channel on March 15th, providing rider access to apparel and equipment lines only, some of which might not be available in store.

Simon Homer, Specialized UK Managing Director, said of the launch: “As riders continue to develop the way in which they evaluate and purchase products, it’s essential for us to align our routes to market. S_Connect has been a big goal for us and allows riders to connect with our strong retailer network 24 hours a day, seven days a week, by finding bikes and equipment in retailers that are conveniently located.

“Already, we have had the majority of our retailer network opt into the programme. Moving forward the benefits of S_Connect go beyond rider connection, as we will also be able to provide valuable feedback on things like product demand and ranging. The launch of E-Commerce for our apparel and equipment ranges is all about representing the full range to the rider, as a complimentary addition to S_Connect. We want to ensure that if a rider is looking to purchase a particular equipment line, then they have the option to find it nearby and, if this isn’t possible, they still have the option to gain access to it through Specialized.com. Our aim is to create the best experience for the rider.”
