SRAM hires Mel Sweet, expands UX team
SRAM has announced the hiring of Mel Sweet, who joins the brands growing User Experience (UX) team as a Product Designer.
With technology in the cycling industry no longer something used exclusively to develop and deliver product, and connectivity increasingly bringing new capabilities in the hands of riders, talent from beyond the sector has made a significant impact on rider experiences.
SRAM User Experience Team Manager Andy Detskas comments: “Mel is ex- Strava, and Dropbox, and brings a wealth of cycling culture, community, and insight to our team. Mel’s going to be working to help us get to know the rider and their bike better than anyone else, and we’re here for it!”
On joining SRAM, Mel comments, “Having the opportunity to work with such a stellar team of designers, product managers, and engineers on products and services for some of the most advanced digital cycling hardware is extremely exciting for this bike nerd.”
In recent months we’ve seen SRAM promoting its technology driven capabilities, and the impacts these have for riders, with a series of features.
“There is a huge opportunity for what connected tech can do,” comments Radhika Cherukuru, Digital Product Manager at SRAM, when talking with Built In Chicago. “We need to be very judicious. Our goal is to identify what riders want, how they use these connected components on their bike and how that enhances their experience on the bike.”
The Chicago IL headquartered business has also been prominent in promoting and increasing opportunities and representation of women in cycling, including electronics, app development, and engineering. To help grow opportunities for women in cycling the business announced a partnership with Women in Sports Tech (WiST).
