Storm in a hand pump: Moon expands into inflation goods

Moon is no longer just to be known as a lighting brand having come to market with a handful of hand pumps, now available via the UK distributor Raleigh.

Four high pressure units have joined the B2B, each made from lightweight CNC aluminium and set under the ‘Aiolos’ banner; a name given to the product in reference to Greek Mythology. Aiolos was the divine keeper of the winds and king of the mythical floating island Aiolia – the story goes that he kept the violent stormy winds locked safely inside the cavernous interior of his isle, releasing them only at the command of the greatest gods to wreak devastation upon the worlds.

While this is much more of a storm in a hand pump, the Moon catalogue offers up the consumer accessible and high power inflation in a price range of £29.99 to £49.99.

Starting with the cheapest, the Aiolos HP is also the smallest and lightest of the range, measuring only 160mm in size and weighing just 66 grams. The Aiolos includes a dual-compatible head (Schrader and Presta) and has a maximum PSI of 160. Its innovative lockable handle keeps the pump small and compact.

Next up, the £34.99 Aiolos Pro HP is one of the smaller pumps in the range, its compact lockable design allows for it to be easily stored in a saddle bag or pocket. It has a maximum PSI of 160 and weighs only 115 grams.

Thirdly, the Guage Pro iteration is a more compact design than the Mini Floor Pump (up next) – measuring 215mm in size and weighing only 115g. This mini hand pump has a lockable handle to keep it compact, along with an inline pressure gauge. It will handle Presta and Schrader valves with a maximum pressure of 160 PSI.

Lastly, the Aiolos Gauge MFP – HP is the largest and heaviest pump in the range, measuring 320mm, so this pump is probably one for home use rather than taking out on the trials with you. It weighs 184 grams. This pump has a Max PSI of 210, air bleed control functionality and a sleek vertical inline pressure gauge.

In case you missed it, Raleigh also this month brought to market a collaboration with Fat Face, resulting in a range of hoodies, tees, sweats and a selection of accessories.
