Trek goes dealer direct in New Zealand from July 1st
Trek Bicycles is to expand the direct to dealer model into New Zealand from July 1st, with distribution stemming from Auckland.
Distributed by Cycle Sport New Zealand for the past 23 years, the change follows similar announcements for the US, UK and a number of other territories.
In a press announcement Trek said: “By going dealer direct in New Zealand, Trek will be able to make full use of their global infrastructure and give our New Zealand customers access to a wide range of value added services, as well as a full line of best in class products.
“Trek New Zealand will be under the regional guidance of Philip McGlade, the Asia Pacific Director. Philip brings 15 years of experience in managing Trek’s businesses in Japan, China, South Korea and Australia.
“Jason Pye, Trek Australia’s General Manager, will be responsible for the local guidance of the New Zealand business and will eventually setup a Trek office in Hamilton to service this market. Trek will have Territory and Retail Managers on both the North and South Island to ensure that our retailers and customers are well looked after.
“Trek have partnered with a local warehouse and logistics company called Mainfreight that will look after all of our logistics needs. The Mainfreight warehouse is based in Auckland.”
