Velomatch launch online bike sizing tool for retailers and customers

Velomatch have launched a service which aims to bridge the information gap for consumers purchasing new bikes, and retailers helping customers find the best options.

Entering as much or as little information about yourself as you like the Velomatch online platform will show you a combination of frame, seat height, bars and stem options for your goals. The platform provides detailed geometry data for thousands of frame and accessory options, and provides the ability to compare up to 5 bikes at once.

With a wide range of brands bike data readily accessible, once customers know the right bike an enquiry can be sent direct to retailers who can provide price and availability information. Critically, Velomatch enables customers to buy direct from retailers, which also presents the opportunity to promote other services.

Retailers with an experienced professional bike fitter in-store will see this as an ideal opportunity to promote their bike fitting service – delivering a richer customer experience – offering the complete package as part of that all important new bike day wow factor.

A complete bike fit, typically taking up to 3 hours, will explore:

  • Off the bike postural assessment and functional movement screening
  • Shoe / pedal interface – looking at the impact of instability on the wider riding experience
  • Saddle height, and the impact this has on pedalling dynamics – assessing for imbalances
  • Saddle fore / aft – exploring distribution of pressure across the saddle / impact on overall position
  • Stem angle and length – using an adjustable bike fitting tool to give live experience of changes
  • Bar height – relating to rider goals, flexibility, and strength
  • Bar shape and the impact this can have on reach – relating to overall position on bike
  • Balancing weight distribution across the top of the bike – creating postural stability and efficiency
  • Review of saddle shape – exploring opportunities to further optimize a solid position

The Velomatch website is live, free for both retailers and customers, and has further upgrades to the online service scheduled for April, keeping the data bang up to date with all the latest cycling products.
