2pure appoints administrator

Edinburgh-based cycle distributor 2pure has appointed an administrator today (19 May 2023).

The confirmation follows a number of rumours circulating in the trade and the departure of key figures including former director George Bowie, who left earlier this month.

The sad news follows the seismic demise of cycle industry stalwart Moore Large, which was confirmed to close in March, with its considerable £35 million product inventory auctioned off.

2pure added a new brand to the distribution portfolio as recently as six months ago – milKit Sports Components and appeared at the most recent Core Bike show as an exhibitor. Coros moved from 2pure distribution and went direct to retail from March 2023. More recently, 2pure moved to focus on cycling industry products-only, shedding its brands which were more outdoor-orientated.

The fall of Moore Large led to speculation that there would be further casualties in the cycle trade while the market rides out pressures of price inflation, constrained consumer finances and considerable overstocks, expected to take many months to be worked through.

2pure has been approached for comment.
