Bike Channel signs exclusive UK Triathlon highlights triple

Cycling-dedicated television channel Bike has announced a trio of rights exclusives within the Triathlon world.

The agreement gives the broadcaster coverage of the ITU World Triathlon Series, X-Terra and Ironman World Series.

Filippo Ubaldini, Founder & CEO of Bike Channel, said of the deal: “Bike Channel is the perfect destination for endurance sports involving cycling, and we are thrilled to be expanding our coverage to include the ITU World Triathlon Series, Xterra and Ironman World Series. Signing these exclusive deals enables Bike Channel to serve viewers with the best events and best athletes from the world of triathlon.

“We know that our audience loves to see what has happened in an event, and these acquisitions will hopefully open our channel up to even more people.”

An exclusive pay-TV deal with the ITU will bring International Triathlon Union World Triathlon Series to viewers. As the pinnacle of elite triathlon racing, the 2017 ITU World Triathlon Series calendar of events began in Abu Dhadi, UAE, on March 3rd to 4th, with the UK event taking place in Leeds on June 10th to 11th before finishing in Rotterdam in September. Broadcast of the first magazine show from Abu Dhabi will take place on Friday 10th of March.

Ironman World Series highlights, again exclusive to the channel, will come paired with a range of competitions, including Short Course Tri, Ironkids and Ironman.

Finally, the Xterra World Tour highlights will show the day’s action from around the world, with athletes competing in off-road triathlons and trail runs in some of the most diverse, visually spectacular and challenging natural environments on the planet, from tropical jungles to snow-covered alps.

Bike Channel is available on Sky channel 464, Virgin Media channel 552 and Freesat channel 251.
