Boardman Bikes lets Brownlees go as investment focus shifts to Performance Centre
Boardman Bikes has issued a press statement outlining a slimming of its supported professional athlete roster in favour of allocating funds to making “everyone faster”.
Announcing that the brand will separate from triathlon stars Alistair and Jonathan Brownlee, the firm said that the money saved will be reallocated toward product R&D and the brand’s soon to launch Evesham Performance Centre.
Outlining that it would like to make all of its customers that little bit faster, the firm said:
“Over the last few months we have taken the decision to rationalise our supported athlete portfolio, reinvesting these costs into product R&D and our soon to launch Performance Centre with attainable cycling specific wind tunnel that aims to make everyone faster and not just a handful of supported athletes. Boardman bikes has always been known for offering exceptional performance and incredible value, it’s part of our brand values and commitment to our customers and is as important now as it has ever been.
“Boardman Bikes would like to take this opportunity to thank both Alistair and Jonathan Brownlee and wish them both every success in the years to come as they continue to dominate their sport. The boys have been with us from the start and been the perfect brand ambassadors and triathlon role models while dominating all aspects of their sport by winning all major titles on-board Boardman bikes.”
