Canyon ponders future of gravity riding with new concept bike

Canyon has published an image of what it considers the future bike of gravity riding might look like, even giving it a name – the Orbiter.

Designed by Daniel Frintz, the bike removes a lot of traditional componentry, integrating everything from suspension to drivetrain in a bid to remove the most common mechanical and maintenance issues.

The concept design centres around electromagnetic suspension, a powered transmission on both wheels and even a traction control system. Still think it looks breakable? The designer speculates that a system could be integrated to detect malfunctions before they become significant issues.

From the now available pictures it looks as though the concept is already being toyed with in Canyon’s labs, so expect to see the design in the flesh in the not too distant future.
