Halfords boss makes surprise departure to lead M&S clothing

Halfords chief executive Jill McDonald has resigned having been approached to lead Marks & Spencers as the managing director of the clothing, home and beauty division.

McDonald, who joined in March of 2015, had been steering Halfords in the right direction and was widely believed to have a long term ambition to overhaul the business, in particular the cycling division.

The news comes just months after the business also saw the commercial director Emma Fox depart.
