Derby Cycle pulls Kalkhoff, Rixe, Raleigh and Focus from Eurobike
Pon-owned Derby Cycle – itself the parent of Kalkhoff, Univega, Raleigh and Rixe – will not participate in Eurobike 2016.
Like others beforehand, the group will turn its focus to its own dealer events in 2016, including a new event in Morzine, France where dealers will be presented with Focus’s 2017 line.
Derby Cycle Holding GmbH is the largest manufacturer of bicycles in Germany in sales terms, shifting near half a million bikes a year, 100,000 of which are e-bikes or pedelecs.
“Above all, the new full-suspension models with which we complete our range in this segment and the new E-MTB models represent a world first and will raise the Focus brand to a top level” says Thomas Raith, Chairman of the Board of Derby Cycle Holding GmbH.
“In conjunction with new patents, market leading carbon technology and a unique world first in the E-MTB sector, we will inspire the customers with a product and brand experience – especially by means of extensive test rides” Marc Faude, Product Director of Focus is convinced.
“Alongside the new P/B/M, the Bike Expo in Cloppenburg, which is now entering its fourteenth round, has developed over the past few years into today’s largest private bicycle trade fair in Germany. And not without reason: this is the only place where we can present our dealers our entire product range and the many important suppliers”, said Raith.
“Above all, the great atmosphere of this event with test rides, various training offers on leading technologies and marketing concepts provides the dealers with a unique experience combined with many opportunities for personal talks. And that is also precisely the key to the success of this event”, says Raith.
Large customer fairs such as ZEG and BICO will continue to have an important place in Derby’s trade fair calendar.
“Because of this concentration we unfortunately had to cancel our Eurobike participation this year, but we’re staying in contact with our longstanding partner for the coming years”, Raith explains.
