In response to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, organisers of the Eurobike Award 2020 have adapted the award process to include more digital features.
Bicycle and mobility companies, designers and developers have been entering product innovations for the awards since April. This year, the timing of the award process has been adapted to take account of the later start to the season and the postponing of Eurobike show to November 2020.
Pitched as a ‘Eurobike Special’, the November event will be purely B2B as a working trade fair with intensive expert and professional exchange, without the test and demo areas and party.
Therefore, the early registration discount has been extended to 23rd June, while the closing date for registration remains 9th July.
Eurobike Project Manager, Dirk Heidrich, said of the changes: “This year, we have moved the award procedure back somewhat, adjusted it and introduced more digital features. Nevertheless, the two-day decision-making panel where the judges meet to assess the products remains in place.
“We are convinced that this is the only way to ensure that all the new bike innovations are extensively tested, properly discussed and fully evaluated right down to the smallest detail.”
Following the digital pre-selection round with twelve judges, the final judges panel with six industry experts will be held 5-6th August. These panel members will be announced shortly, with selection having had to take into account respective international travel restrictions.
Eurobike Award 2020 winners will be announced on the original trade show date (2nd September) during a digital award ceremony.
On the same day, a new digital Start-Up Pitch event for young entrepreneurs and new businesses will also take place.
The Eurobike Award Display will remain a permanent feature of the trade fair (taking place 24-26 November 2020) to allow the industry to see the winning products live.
