Madison supports Milton Keynes Mayors award ceremony
The Mayor’s Awards Ceremony was hosted by Madison in an effort to promote cycling as a force for good in Milton Keynes. City leaders came together and united along with educators and advocates to highlight the efforts made to make cycling more inclusive.
Young riders were reached out to, as the first-ever Youth Bicycle Mayor of Milton Keynes signified the cities commitment to enabling a new generation of riders to take up cycling.
An award from the Mayor of Milton Keynes was given out along with the Youth Bicycle Mayor, demonstrating leaderships focus on the youth and its development.
Dominic Langan, Madison and Sportline CEO, said: “Cycling represents freedom, health, sustainability, and joy. But for many women, those benefits remain out of reach because of the very real barriers they face, from safety concerns to lack of inclusive infrastructure. At Madison, we see our role as more than just a business. We are deeply committed to using our platform to drive positive change and work alongside the community to make Milton Keynes a beacon of inclusion and safety for cyclists everywhere.”
Madison’s continuation of its long-standing partnership with Milton Keynes Council was another highlight of the event. Abbey Hill Primary School received two awards; leading bikeability school and most improved bikeability school. Madisons supply of bicycles and helmets to the school had a hand to play in attaining this award.
Bikeability training completion in year 6 students increased by 144%, showing the impact collaboration between business, schools, and local authorities can have.
Kellie Parsons, marketing director at Madison and Sportline, said: “We are proud to be part of the Cycling Citizens MK Alliance and these awards are vital for highlighting the success stories that will help us increase the share of journeys taken by bicycle and the number of women cycling in Milton Keynes. A huge priority for the Alliance is to inspire the next generation of cyclists which is why we support Bikeability with Ridgeback bikes and cycling equipment to get as many children on bikes as possible. There is so much work going on behind the scenes and we are confident that together we will make Milton Keynes a true cycling city.”
Madison also announced its support for the upcoming MK Mayor’s Festival of Cycling, taking place on the 23rd to the 31st of March 2025. This will further support and celebrate cycling in the area. The Mayors awards was not merely a celebration but also a call to action as Madison remains committed to working alongside city leaders to make Milton Keynes more inclusive.
This comes in line with Madisons wider support for cycling events around the UK.
