Ex-pro Stefano Migliorini launches Thok e-MTB label

Former ex-professional mountain bike rider Stefano Migliorini has launched an electric bike label dubbed Thok.

The brand has come to fruition with the help of Giuseppe Bernocco and Sebastiano Astegiano, founders of the TCN Group, an Italian group of Companies with over 300 employees and a turnover of about 60 Million Euro in 2015. thok2

Set to retail both via thokebikes.com and appointed retailers across Europe, stock of the Shimano Steps driven portfolio is available to order now.

An “all-mountain” model has been chosen for the international launch, dubbed the MIG. The new e-mtb takes its name from Stefano Migliorini’s nickname from the BMX and DH racing world, “Mr. Mig”.

Stefano Migliorini said of the launch: “I am very proud of the MIG. With the LGC (Low Gravity Center) system we have been able to keep the centre of gravity very low, which makes the bike very agile with great performance. It is very rigid thanks to the optimized and strong connection between the down tube and motor bracket. We have chosen the brand new Shimano Steps E8000 because, as well as being the most innovative system in the market, its small dimensions have allowed us to create a very short chain stay (450mm) that guarantees an agility very similar to a mtb without the motor. Finally, but very importantly, we have also been able to put the bottle in its traditional position, not such a common element in the e-mtb market but always very useful.”

20-time World Trials Champion Toni Bou has collaborated with Migliorini as part of the research and development process. The Spanish champion, who began his career on two wheels with the bmt (Trials bicycles), unveiled the MIG during the Valencia MotoGP weekend, receiving the first sample of the version dedicated to him, that will be limited to a production of only 20 pieces.

MIG has been created to deliver its best on very rough terrains found typically on the Alps where the bike has been developed. All the three versions (MIG, MIG R and MIG Limited Edition) feature 150mm front and 140mm rear travel, 66° head tube angle, Plus tires 27.5 x 2.8”.

The first MIG available for orders will be the “Limited Edition”, which boasts top components custom made with “20 Time World Champion” logo of Toni Bou, at a price of 6,490 Euro (incl. VAT).
