Giant Docklands store closes

The Giant brand store at Docklands has closed its doors suddenly with the shop removed from the manufacturer’s UK website.

The closure, coming against a tide of steady growth in branded shops, takes the portfolio back down to 30 nationwide bearing either the Giant (29) and/or Liv (1) decals. The store at Docklands was established just over three years ago.

UK Managing Director at Giant, Ian Beasant told CI.N: “Unfortunately at Docklands due to the Unrealistic rent requirements going forwards we have decided with the partner that the best commercial decision is to close the door.

“Brand stores are otherwise like-for-like up 6% last year. Giant has been focused on partnership and supporting the network for many years and continues to do so in the changing market place.”

Located on the Isle of Dogs, not far from Canary Wharf, the 6,500 square foot branch offered bike fit, a full workshop service, Wattbikes in store and a strong representation of the brand catalogues.

Some social media accounts attached to the store have been pulled down, with Facebook and remaining bearing signs of a “final sale”.
