Hero Cycles opens six stores in Chennai

Hero Cycles has opened six new bike shops in Chennai, India, after partnering with city-based brand Just Buy Cycles.

The Sprint stores will stock fitness and adventure bikes, as well as models specifically designed for women and children. The new shops are located in Velachery, Anna Nagar, Ashok Nagar, Navalur and Triplicane, bringing the total number of Hero stores in the Tamil Nadu area to 18.

Pankaj M Munjal, Chairman of Hero Motors Company, said at the opening of the Velachery store: “Cycling for fitness and recreation is fast catching up among the youth and the new-age buyers looking for a different experience.

“For the young, cycles are a mode of transport and also a tool for fitness. This is why cycle enthusiasts desire personalised guidance and first-hand experience while selecting the right bicycle.”

In total, there are 250 Hero Cycles stores across India. In April this year, the company issued a statement that claims it now produces 19,000 bicycles per day and around 5.2 million per year.

The business has significantly ramped up its investments in recent years, producing everything from budget bicycles for its domestic market to the high-end electric bicycles rolling off production lines recently.
