Homebase follows Sainsburys into cargo bike trials

UK home supplies giant Homebase has followed supermarket Sainsbury’s lead and introduced a cargo bike program to two flagship stores.

Located in London (Finchley Road) and Cambridge (Newmarket Road retail park), the 12 week trial will offer customers free use of a London Green Cycles-supplied cargo bike to assist with transporting goods home.

The bike in question is a modified Christiania build, capable of hauling over 100kgs, plus the rider, as well as a 270.1 litre capacity. The build is even ready to shelter the goods from the elements with a waterproof rain tent.
