I-ride’s Orro adds UK made carbon gravel grinder in Terra C

I-ride house label Orro has lifted the lid on a new full carbon gravel bike, dubbed the Terra C.

Following the brand’s initial foray into gravel with the standard Terra the C iteration brings forward a new geometry and a special carbon layup involving Innerga Carbon, as produced by Runcorn-based Sigmatex.

Orro say of the bike: “Working with composites specialists Sigmatex, we pinpointed the need for frame protection to cater for the kind of riding the Terra C would be subjected to. As an industry first, Sigmatex Innegra fabrics have been used in manufacture of the frame. Sigmatex Innegra is a tough, flexible fibre with great endurance. Its properties make it naturally good at vibration damping and give it great impact resistance.”

The Terra C has selective Innegra shielding in critical areas of the bike, namely under the BB and inside the chainstays and fork blades to ward off rock strikes and other impacts. In the event of impact, Innegra minimises chance of failure.

There is a 72mm bottom bracket drop and 71 degree head angle across all sizes, which Orro say delivers confident handling. This is combined with a 50mm fork rake to maintain steering responsiveness.

The brand added: “We also incorporated frame-size-specific chainstay lengths to minimise heel rub and balance the weight distribution of larger riders. At Orro we believe that gravel bikes must be fast on the road and Terra C delivers; the Terra C has the speed of a road bike across a multitude of surfaces, from country lanes, to bridleways and light singletrack, with exceptional traction and stability across rougher terrain.”

The frame will take up to 42mm tyres, and has provisions for mounting full length mudguards and a rear rack. Spec wise, Orro offer the bike in three road builds starting with a Shimano 105 5800 build from £1,799.99 and an ‘adventure’ build, featuring a sub-compact chainset and flared bars, paired with Hutchinson’s Overide tyres.

For those who want to custom build their bike, it will also be offered as a frame only option for £1,399.999, and it will be electronic groupset compatible, with a removable front derailleur mount for a clean look with 1x builds.
