Interbike calls on bike industry to share thoughts on location and dates

Interbike’s organisers have sent out an email to industry partners surveying a possible opinion shift on where and when the U.S. trade show should take place.

Like Eurobike and the Taipei Cycle Show, among others, organisers Emerald Expositions are aware of an industry feeling that early summer dates are becoming preferable as opposed to Interbike’s traditional September dates.

Placing emphasis that the email to exhibitors and past visitors is for research only, Vice President Pat Hus’s statement reads:

“We are launching a fact-gathering study of our customers to learn more about how we can improve our offering. Specifically, we have heard interest from participants to explore moving Interbike to the June/July timeframe. This move would change the purpose of Interbike from an end-of-cycle marketing event to more of a product introduction event. In addition, we understand that some participants have grown tired of the Las Vegas location, so we’re also exploring broader interest in a new location.”

One of the survey’s questions relates to the 2017 show, with visitors asked could they make earlier dates next year, potentially signaling imminent changes.

On location, respondents are asked to rank in order of preference Anaheim, California, Salt Lake City and the current venue, Las Vegas’ Mandalay Bay Convention Centre.

CyclingIndustry.News columnist Jay Townley recently assessed the show mix and how events like Interbike can work for the industry. Read that here.
