Joanne Clay joins the BikeZaar marketing team

bikeZaar, the online marketplace platform for cyclists and triathletes, has appointed Joanne Clay to its in-house marketing team.

Clay is one of the country’s fastest female riders has taken to the podium at several National XC Rounds and is as equally skilled on a road bike, where she has medalled in the National Hill Climb Champion’s twice.

Clay has considerable industry experience having worked in the distribution and online retail space for a number of years. Her role will be focused on digital marketing activities, whilst also supporting bikeZaar’s Seller community, ranging from small shops to large retailers and some of the industry’s leading brands. Clay will also support the introduction of new products and services for Sellers helping them to utilise the features of the platform to grow their sales, providing insights and advice.

“I am really excited to join bikeZaar,” commented Clay. “It’s different in many ways to traditional ecommerce and I love the fact that we are generating new business for bike shops and opening up new opportunities in many ways. My role will be to support the shops, helping them to get the most out of the platform whilst also generating awareness and site traffic.”

Launched in 2017, the bikeZaar online marketplace passes orders through to independent bike shops. Born from a desire to integrate both digital and face-to-face service in a technical market, bikeZaar’s business model, utilises technology to connect supply and demand speedily and more easily.

Consisting of a community of high street bike shops, brands and service providers, bikeZaar provides a highly differentiated service and what it said is “an inspirational shopping experience for consumers”. The platform aggregates offline supply; inventory held in supplier warehouses and in retail stores, making it available for customers to quickly find, compare, and buy online with a choice of delivery, or collection in a local bike shop. bikeZaar set up a partnership with Tandem Group Cycles last summer and has been steadily ramping up to the trade in the months since.
