Madison cuts carbon footprint with 1,000+ solar panel installation at MK facilities

Madison has seen the completion of a significant solar panel installation across both its Milton Keynes facilities that will help offset energy usage at the sites, as well as feed energy back into the National Grid.

The project began last year, adding the panels to the roofs of its two warehouses, saving in the region of 86 tonnes per year. Madison acknowledged that there is plenty more to be done in boosting its sustainable credentials, with other projects pushing towards that goal – recently brands like Madison Clothing and Aztec made a move to 100% sustainable sourced packaging.

The full breakdown of energy generation from the newly complete solar panel installation is:

• A 500.5 kWP Rooftop Solar Photovoltaic Installation
• 1001 x 500w Modules
• Generating 480,443kWh per year in total
• 235,775 KWh per year used on site and rest fed back into the grid
• Carbon Saving: 86 Tonnes per year

Dominic Langan, CEO of Madison, said: “We are committed to the sustainability of our business and minimising our negative impact on the environment but acknowledge there is a huge task ahead of us. Part of this journey is reducing our dependence on carbon intensive energy within our business operations and making the investments necessary to deliver efficiency, value and health for our business.”

There’s opportunity to find out more on that and all things Madison and Sportline for retailers, if they register for and attend iceBike* 2024 at the end of February. Once again it is a split-venue format with iceBike* South in London and iceBike* North in Manchester. For more information and to register visit www.icebike.co.uk.
