microSHIFT releases new gravel groupset: Sword Black
Sword Black is the newest member of microSHIFT’s Sword product family, with the same precisely dialled ergonomics, wide gear range and easy serviceability as the original Sword group. Crucially, this gravel groupset is priced at an even more attainable price.
Accommodating the fact that gravel bikes have wide tyres, which increases wheel diameter and makes gears feel harder, Sword Black has lower gears than typical 9-speed options from competitors: “That gives you a useable gear whether you’re riding in the mountains or the foothills.” Sword Black contends that 9-speed is easy to adjust, stays in adjustment over time, and requires less roadside maintenance, making it ideal.
Using the same pull ratio as Sword, Sword Black gives you the ability to mix and match derailleurs – if you have a Sword Black group but want a clutch, you can use a Sword rear derailleur.
microSHIFT said: “From the textured hoods to the sculpted rear derailleur, Sword Black cuts a striking figure. Modern looks, modern feel, and modern gear ratios combine to form a groupset you would feel comfortable putting on anything.”
microSHIFT has added the option for a square taper crankset. It uses the same chainring standards as the original Sword, only at a new price point and bottom bracket fit so it can be used on more bikes.
It’s available in two specs:
1×9 Groupsets
2×9 Groupsets
Dealers can pre-order now, with stock arriving in late August.
Also available from microSHIFT is the Sword 10 Speed. “Designed for reality”, it is super easy to install and adjust, the brands said, adding that it has the right ergonomics and gear range for long days in the saddle. As with Sword Black, it is available to pre-order now, stock arriving late August.
Dealers interesting in becoming a microSHIFT stockist can contact UK distributor Ison Distribution, which picked up the brand earlier this year.
