Ocean Media Group acquires Spin Cycling Festival, targets becoming leading Euro show
On the opening day of the 2017 Spin Cycling Festival the organiser has announced that the event has been acquired by the Ocean Media Group – one of the UK’s larger independent exhibition operations boasting a portfolio of 40 national shows, plus print and digital publications.
CyclingIndustry.News has learned that the acquisition is all part of a plan to kick the show up a gear in order to compete head on with larger European consumer shows like the Berlin Fahrradschau, among others.
From 2018 the event will move over to London’s 119,200 square foot Printworks, taking place slightly earlier, running February 23rd to 25th.
Commenting on the acquisition, Ocean CEO David Moran, said: “Spin is an incredibly authentic showcase of urban and road cycling products for city cyclists. It combines a great exhibition with a fantastic vibe, representing the artistic and cultural lifestyles that surround cycling too. This is a very fast growing market in London. We’re delighted to be serving it and will now invest heavily to ensure it’s the best major bike show in the capital.”
Spin founder Alex Daw added: “We’re running an event that all cyclists can enjoy. In 2018 we will be introducing our ‘London Cycling Week’ campaign – aimed at getting more people using a bike than ever before. Our job is to grow the market. As well as being a brilliant day out for committed cyclists, we want our initiatives to act as a direct platform for more people to get started or renew their interest in cycling.”
