Orbea licenses Inside Line technology to Canyon, profits go to trail conservation

Orbea has announced that it has partially licensed its Inside Line technology to Canyon Bicycles.

The patent covered idea improves the aesthetics on full-suspension designs, improves cable routing, promoting a more direct line between the shock and the remote lockout knob present on the rear shock. The design also protects any cabling from dirt, thus reducing the potential for contamination.

The European and USA registered patent will likely now be used by Canyon’s frame designers to gain space on front triangles, as Orbea has achieved on models such as the Oiz.

Announcing the agreement, Orbea also revealed that it will use the profits from the arrangement for its Trail Building and maintenance project. This project has been working on conservation of some of the world’s most important mountain biking trails. A training programme has been launched to achieve the long-term preservation and expansion goal of these networks.
