Shimano to open Lyon distribution centre

Shimano has announced a new shipping and logistics centre to open in Lyon, France.

The third of its type for the label in Europe, the Lyon base will service the French and Italian markets with parts and accessories, including PRO goods, Pearl Izumi clothing, Lazer helmets and other agency brands.

Aad Ramondt, Director of Supply Chain said: “With the continued growth of Shimano in Europe and our dedication to providing customers with the best possible service, we aim to accelerate business in France and Italy with a new distribution center.

“By establishing ourselves in the area we will be closer to customers, enabling us to offer faster deliveries and, together with our retail partners, allowing us to be more responsive to local needs and the demands of bicycle consumers. This move reinforces our commitment to the growth of Shimano in France and Italy. Furthermore this supports our overarching mission to help millions of cycling enthusiasts to enjoy nature and the world around them. We are delighted to choose Lyon for this purpose.”

Shimano will work in partnership with global supply chain solutions company XPO Logistics in the creation of Lyon distribution center. Distribution is expected to begin from January 2017.

Elsewhere in Europe Shimano has buildings in Nunspeet in the Netherlands and Poznań in Poland, as well as a distribution warehouse in Istanbul for the Turkish market.
