Taipei Cycle Show: 25% more floor space for 2020

Against a backdrop of increased bicycle goods exports and increased demand from exhibitors, Taipei Cycle Show is set to grow again this year, with 25% more floor space, an Italian pavilion and an e-bike and motor area that has more than doubled on previous years.

Acting as a gateway to the Asia-Pacific markets, Taipei Cycle Show 2020 is a key show for suppliers to both the aftermarket and OEM. It is pitched as a must-attend event in the global trade show calendar, where the whole industry gets together and does business.

This year, the show will host a dedicated section for accessories and components, giving even more companies a stage from which to promote their products to an international audience via approximately 3,800 booths and 1,200 exhibitors.

The show is attended by the world’s leading brand owners, specialist media as well as distributors and an increasing number of retailers, according to the organisers, seeking to buy direct from source; all flock to the halls visiting brands and manufacturers from Taiwan and across the globe with pavilions dedicated to visiting exhibitors from key markets including Europe, Japan and Korea.

E-bike exports up 140%

Having witnessed an export growth of 131% in the first three quarters of 2019, the Taiwanese e-bike industry will, of course, be well represented; giving visitors the opportunity to source and network in a rapidly-growing sector. The 2020 e-bike and motor system pavilion will be double the size than previous years and will include brands such as Bafang, Shimano and FSA. The brand’s co-founder Douglas Chiang said: “At this year’s Eurobike we launched our own FSA System that combines a rear hub motor with a compact battery, resulting in lightweight e-road bikes that look like conventional models. We offer alloy and carbon cranks and chain guides for models with mid-motors from various suppliers. The latest developments we are working on include hollow alloy cranks that combine low weight with attractive looks.”

Exhibitor Nuvo, HQ’d in Taiwan’s Changhua County, has seen sales of dedicated e-bike parts such as battery and motor covers grow quickly. The company is also finding success with durable kickstands that can support heavier e-bikes and cargo bikes.

Taiwaneese e-bike exports are also thriving, with an increase of 139.32% on 2018’s figures.*

World exhibitors

A growth area for the Taipei Cycle Show has been through major international brand exhibitors including: ABUS, CatEye, Continental, Dahon, DT Swiss, FSA, Goodyear, Hayes, Michelin, Miranda, Saris Cycling Group, Shimano, SRAM, Wahoo Fitness and WTB. The Confederation of the European Bicycle Industry will also be there alongside Selle Italia, Selle Royal SPA, Schwalbe and Polisport.

The pavilion dedicated to Italian exhibitors will host brands such as Basso Bikes, Bottecchia, and new for this year – Italian manufacturing company – Polini.
