Temple Cycles introduce the Temple Road

Bristol based Temple Cycles, known for UK designed and made bicycles with a timeless aesthetic, are set to launch a new series of bikes aimed at road cyclists.

The Temple Road is an unashamed nod to cycling tradition traced back over a century – club riding as a sociable cycling movement, rooted in British sporting culture, that is still widely popular today. In its heyday, these clubs would celebrate recreational rides, touring, group rides, and roadracing alike, with members opting for just one bicycle that would be used for all sorts of riding.

It’s this idea of the classic clubman’s bicycle which forms the inspiration behind the Temple Road, with the emphasis on clocking up miles and enjoying the ride at its forefront.

“The Temple Road is a culmination of several years worth of discussions, ideas and prototyping. We wanted to bring something to market that reflected our ethos here at Temple when it comes to form and function, but also maintained our mission to create sustainable products which last. Using Reynolds 853 to make the frame and forks helps us achieve a perfect balance between performance, comfort and longevity.” comments Temple Founder, Matt Mears.

The Temple Road is a performance steel road bike that takes design and geometry cues from these do-it-all road bikes, but with a modern sensibility that focuses on comfort as well as speed. Featuring Reynolds 853 steel frame and forks for a durable yet lightweight feel, the Temple Road is Di2 and mechanical groupset ready, and offers other modern touches in the form of disc brake and internal routing.

The Temple Road also features plenty of mounting points for racks (perfect for mile munching tourists) and mudguards (vital for the considerate club riders). The
Temple Road makes for the perfect 4-season companion for those who echo the clubman’s ‘one bike’ mentality, with a reliable and elegant bicycle that is a joy to ride.

Matt notes that, “we expect framesets will be available to order very soon, with a full build option coming in 2023.” Prices for a frameset (frame and fork) will start at £1295. This may change
between now and launch due to inflationary pressures.

In November of 2021 Temple announced their first B2B offering. Temple founder, Matt Mears, explained: “The opening of a B2B channel is new for Temple Cycles and coincides with out brand expansion. We have stock right now available to store partners. In particular, we are looking for shops who can champion the products and also who think that they have a good market for our new e-Bike.” Temple Electric will form the basis of the brand’s growth in the E-Mobility sector.

Temple, which opened for business in 2015, has carved out a niche as an influential British designer and manufacturer of bikes, combining high quality materials, components, and Reynolds steel frames, with lifetime warranties.
