Trek acquires triathlon specialist Royles

Trek has come to the rescue of Royles following the parent – Paragon Commerce – falling into administration in February.

Royles began in 1979 and became a major player in the tri and cycle retail world in the UK. But the Cheshire-based road and triathlon specialist appointed Philip Duffy and Stephen Clancy of Duff & Phelps joint administrators on February 23rd.

Trek takes on ownership of the business’s assets & all five employees. The Wilmslow Store will stay open and Trek plans to invest in the business going forwards.

Nigel Roberts, General Manager of Trek UK told CyclingIndustry.News: “Royles have been a committed Trek retailer for many years. When we learned that they were entering administration we were obviously concerned. First and foremost our strategy is supplying quality retailers with Trek & Bontrager products, but the circumstances in this situation led us to act quickly to acquire the business and keep it trading.”
