Velo-ce acquires titanium bike brand Van Nicholas from Accell

Velo-ce has acquired titanium bike brand Van Nicholas from Accell.

The acquisition forms part of Velo-ce’s strategy to expand into the premium adventure and travel bicycle segment. Integration efforts will focus on strengthening Van Nicholas’s presence in adventure cycling, long-distance touring and travel.

Anton Nijhuis, Business Developer at Velo-ce, said: “For sales, product information, order status or custom configurations, we are ready to support dealers and consumers around the globe. Bringing Van Nicholas into the Velo-ce family reflects shared values: building premium bicycles in a low-emission, cost-efficient European facility.”

The company added that Van Nicholas, renowned for its lightweight yet rugged titanium frames, complements Velo-ce’s ethos of durability and performance.

From January, Velo-ce will take over all ongoing agreements. Dealers will be informed of the changes and will be served directly by Velo-ce. All Van Nicholas riders will continue to have access to maintenance and service through their local Van Nicholas dealers. Velo-ce expects to grow its presence across Europe, targeting riders who value quality and adventure-ready reliability.

“We are proud to carry forward Van Nicholas’s legacy. Cyclists will experience the best of both worlds: titanium resilience and Italian manufacturing,” said Stefano Moruzzi, CEO of Velo-ce.

In a statement, Accell described Van Nicholas as a “niche brand” with “limited potential to scale”.

“The added value of the brand within Accell’s broader portfolio strategy was limited, and Accell is pleased to have found a strong new owner for the business. The divestment allows Accell to further sharpen its strategic focus as it continues to execute its transformation plan,” the company said.

Accell added that the transaction will enable Van Nicholas to gain “a dedicated long-term home”, allowing the brand to continue developing within a focused, premium environment.
