Vielo launch world’s first wireless only, 1x only, gravel bike

British indy-boutique brand Vielo has launched a new Race Edition gravel bike; the worlds first wireless only, 1x only, gravel bike.

The Race Edition V+1 takes the brands lightest V+1 Alto frameset (880g) and re-engineers it around 1x, and, exclusively, for a wireless group set only: No blanking plugs or stickers. No cables. No mess. No compromises – all the brake hoses routed internally, through a clean and tidy bar and stem combo. Front on picture showing totally cable free cockpit installation

The second-generation V+1 gravel bike is in fact a full redesign of the 2019 V+1, “position(ing) the new V+1 as a fast (race) performance gravel bike, rather than a fat tyre drop bar mountain bike or load lugging, bike-packing type bike.”

Designed to work with a SRAM eTap AXS groupsets, a firm ‘cable free installation’ favourite with custom and boutique frame builders, the bike has a clean and minimalist silhouette of the kind normally reserved for aero road bikes, which, paired with a bold paint scheme, certainly makes a striking visual statement.

Vielo founder Ian Hughes said “The V+1 Race Edition follows the same design ethos as the R+1 Alto
road bike. If you’re going to build it with a wireless group set, then why not make the frame exclusively

For Sea Otter a custom build rocks a SRAM Red XPLR group set, Hope RX4+ brake callipers, Zipp 303 Firecrest wheels, Vielo carbon thru axles, 3d printed carbon saddle and Vielo’s own combo bars.

The frame will be offered in Red, FORCE and Rival XPLR.

Founded in 2017, Vielo set out to go it’s own way – championing 1x on road bikes – with a clear Vielo design aesthetic demonstrated most pronouncedly via the stand out R+1 seatstay. Bikes designed around UK riding conditions lent the bikes to larger tyre volume platforms at an early stage in this evolution, engineering in performance and comfort.
