Andy Brooke rolls out mentoring and consultancy services
Bike fitter and IBFI founder Andy Brooke is rolling out a mentoring and consultancy service to help take bike fitters careers to the next stage through an online service.
Both beginner and established fitters can gain help and advice through the online service on any aspect of the industry. Topics such as creating career development plans, developing businesses, and learning how to approach complicated fits.
The service includes monthly one-to-one calls and direct contract with Brooke each week, allowing fitters to learn processes he uses in the industry.
Brooke boasts over 15 years experience of fitting, with time spent as Retul Master fitted and a Steve Hogg approved fitter. Strengths and weaknesses of those on the service can also be assessed, with strategies being provided on how to fill and gaps in knowledge.
Brooke said: “I’ve always had a passion for teaching and sharing my experience and knowledge, and mentoring is a great way of ensuring that the bike fit industry continues to go from strength to strength. For less than half the price of an average fit, my mentoring service gives fitters unrivalled access to the knowledge I’ve collected through attending, writing and delivering dozens of bike fit courses around the world.”
Troubleshooting sessions will also be available for fitters struggling with complicated cases, helping fitters identify what approaches they could take to improve results
Fitters can discuss issues on a case-by-case basis to help understand logical next steps and what interventions to try and improve service. If a fitter is still having issues, Brooke can attend fittings remotely to give more in-depth feedback.
Brooke added: “Whether you’re new to the industry or an established fitter, mentoring can be a great way to talk through situations and bounce ideas off an experienced professional who has been in your situation.”
Brooke said: “Having worked extensively with Paralympians and amputees I have a lot of experience in working with complicated fit cases. By helping fitters understand the mechanisms behind the interventions they make, they will be better placed to identify what interventions are most likely to help in challenging situations.”
Consultancy and support packages of all sizes are being offered for fit brands which require more support. Consultations can run from bike shops considering launching bike fit services, to how to lay out a studio, to what to look for when hiring a fitter, and everything else inbetween.
Advice on additional training can also be given, using his expertise in having previously developed training courses. Further advice can be given on how businesses can get the best from their existing bike fit technology using education courses.
The introduction of biomechanical concepts and scientific research to product development is important to brands looking to take a fit-first approach to product design, and Brooke is able to offer long-term consultancy on these issues.
Brooke said: “Having a strong scientific background thanks to my Masters degree in sport and exercise science, and six years of PhD study, I’ve worked with companies to provide scientific support to help back up their products’ claims. Whether brands are looking for advice at the design stage or lengthier involvement to help them develop products and get them to market, I can help.”
Brookes IBFI has helped fitters in their careers, providing qualifications and an education service.
