CycleTrac obtains Secured By Design accreditation
AllTrac Group’s eBike security system CycleTrac bike tracker has been awarded the Secured By Design (SBD) accreditation.
SBD is the official police security initiative that works to enhance the security of buildings and their immediate surroundings, providing safe places to live, work, shop and visit. SBD’s product-based accreditation scheme—the Police Preferred Specification—provides a recognised standard for all security products that can deter and reduce crime.
CycleTrac features monitored tracking capabilities via an ARC or equivalent system. The product is certified to IASME IoT Cyber Assurance Level 2, following an independent audit of its cybersecurity processes and controls. It is also certified to NSI NACOSS Gold for the design, installation and maintenance of electronic security systems, including intruder alarms, CCTV and access control, under NSI certificate 53038/ARC-G. According to the firm, it is the first and only eBike tracker to have secured SBD accreditation.
Recently, the UK government unveiled plans for its Crime and Policing Bill, potentially paving the way for technology to effectively combat bike crime through the use of trackers and geolocation technology. The Bill will give police power to act on data from tracking devices, allowing them to search properties where stolen items have been electronically geolocated.
If passed, the police can enter premises to search for and seize electronically tracked stolen goods, ranging from mobile phones to stolen vehicles and agricultural machinery.
