Eddy Merckx adds last mile service option with Velofix

Customers who buy bikes directly on eddymerckx.com can now add a Velofix Direct build up to their cart at checkout.

Merckx is the latest in a string of industry labels to recruit the mobile mechanic franchise to carry out service on delivery for online orders. When CyclingIndustry.News spoke to Velofix’s Chris Guillemet at Interbike he further indicated that new brand additions would come thick and fast saying “We’ve met nearly all the major brands and many have B2C built and ready to fire.”

85 Velofix franchises currently operate in North America, ensuring comprehensive delivery coverage in every major Canadian market and most key American markets.

Eddy Merckx bikes delivered by Velofix Direct will be fully built and tested by a professional Velofix mechanic, and delivered directly to the customer at the time and location of their choosing, thanks to a proprietary route-optimized booking software. Each Velofix Direct delivery also includes a professional fitting session and a complimentary tune-up after 30 days.

“We’re extremely pleased to be starting off 2017 with a storied brand like Eddy Merckx,” said velofix co-founder Chris Guillemet. “Eddy’s discerning eye for performance and design, and his well-documented perfectionist tendencies when it comes to looking after his bikes are all mutually shared hallmarks that we’re particularly proud to safeguard.”

The Eddy Merckx partnership with Velofix Direct goes further than just direct customer distribution, with planned in-van mobile demos, strategic promotion and sales opportunities, and ongoing customer maintenance and routine service for any Merckx bike owner.

Sales of Eddy Merckx Cycles have begun at eddymerckx.com, and bike delivery and in-home customer builds through Velofix start this month throughout all Velofix territories in North America.

The firm has indicated that from 2017 it will expand into the UK. Read more in the CyclingIndustry.News Trade Journal.
