German distributor and electric bike maker buys out Bionicon

Reports in Germany reveal that Bionicon brand has been fully acquired by Motor Sport Accessories GmbH, a business that had handled the distribution for the brand in the territory.

The Weiden-based business has worked closely with Bionicon since 2016, with the latest development seeing the brand consolidate its operations to move within the MSA headquarters. The deal now gives MSA, also the parent to electric bike brand Trenoli, ownership of patents such as the ClimbAir system and distribution rights.

A statement from says MSA Managing Director Gerald Federl reads: “Bionicon will be an important pillar in our portfolio and will strengthen our bike sector with absolutely top-quality mountain bikes that impress with innovative suspension technology. After serving the electric bicycle market with Trenoli, primarily in the city, trekking and touring segment, Bionicon ideally complements our product range in the sports sector. Our goal is to build Bionicon with a complete range of sporty bicycles focusing on MTB. Together as a team, we can ensure the future of the Bionicon brand and the supply of the entire German market with Bionicon Bikes through specialist dealers.”
