HKT Products introduces post-industrial recycled PP for mudguards
HKT Products will use post-industrial recycled polypropylene (PP) to manufacture mudguards as part of an initiative to reduce waste.
From 1 December, all HKT custom mudguards will be produced using the recycled material, with the brand’s stock mudguard range set to follow gradually as existing inventory sells through and new production runs begin. The company said the phased approach ensures continuity of supply while moving the entire HKT mudguard range in a “more responsible direction”.
The change is part of the company’s More Than Material initiative, which aims to reduce waste and improve material responsibility without compromising quality.
“More Than Material isn’t about claiming we’ve solved sustainability,” said Oliver Green, Founder of HKT Products. “It’s about taking responsibility for the materials we use and making realistic improvements where we can. This change reduces waste, keeps material in circulation and lets us continue making products in the UK without compromising on quality.”
According to the company, post-industrial recycled PP is created from clean manufacturing off-cuts and trimmings generated during normal industrial production. The material has never reached consumers, which means it remains consistent, uncontaminated and suited to performance-driven applications. Moreover, the recycled PP used by HKT is halogen-free, non-toxic and 100% recyclable, aligning with wider industry efforts to improve material circularity.
The use of post-industrial recycled PP can help reduce the use of virgin plastic while maintaining durability, flexibility and quality. Although pricing, fit and manufacturing processes remain unchanged, customers may notice minor shade variations or small surface inclusions.
