MIPS and POC settle legal dispute and agree to work together
Helmet tech manufacturers MIPS and POC have agreed to settle a legal battle that began last year in relation to the similarities in anti-rotational injury tech in the firm’s helmets.
In November of last year MIPS had been granted a preliminary injunction against POC in Germany following the launch of its SPIN (Shearing Pad Inside), something that halted the sale of POC helmets carrying MIPS. This was followed by a counter filing by POC.
The pair have now released a joint statement that confirms and amicable ending to the dispute and one that will see the pairing working together to a certain degree.
“The settlement agreement does not include any obligation for any party to reimburse the other party for the costs incurred in relation to the legal proceedings. The companies intend to jointly develop safer helmets combining POC and MIPS’ strengths in technological innovation, style and quality. The cooperation is estimated to have a limited impact on the 2018 net sales of MIPS.”
