Ocisport celebrates 20 years and gears up for 2021 season

Ocisport is celebrating its 20th year in business while gearing up for the 2021 season and continued challenges brought about by the pandemic.

Ocisport’s annual numbers are substantial with 100,000 registrations per year via the TicketOci platform and 50,000 sportspeople in its cycling and running database. Every year more than 1 million spectators attend its events, of which there are over 40, as well as more than 100,000 sportspeople.

Over the last two decades OCISPORT has put on the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in Vallnord (Andorra), seven UCI Mountain Bike World Cups and three Skyrunning World Championships, and has brought the prestigious Sea Otter Classic festival, for which it is the exclusive organiser, from the USA to Europe.

Dates for the Sea Otter Europe Costa Brava-Girona Bike Show will be held from 24th to 26th of September, 2021, after this year’s festival was cancelled due to Covid-19. The 2019 show saw a total of 60,000 visitors, 420 exhibiting brands, 50 types of bikes, including MTB, gravel, road and electric. Additionally, the event saw over 6,000 participants take part in sporting events from over 50 different countries.

OCISPORT has also announced dates for the BUFF MOUNTAIN FESTIVAL (from 9 to 12 July), which will bring the World Skyrunning Championship to Vall de Boí, were also confirmed.

Albert Balcells, CEO and founder of OCISPORT said: “2020 has been a difficult year, but just as we were able to continue with part of the calendar by applying COVID-19 measures and setting limited capacities, we are convinced that the 2021 season can only get better and our commitment to the sportspeople, institutions and sponsors remains unchanged, as we strive to do things as well as possible.”
