Opinions sought on new apprenticeship occupational standard

The ACT, ATG Training and Cycler have been busy collaborating fine tuning the detail of what a new apprenticeship standard for bicycle mechanics may look like.

Having established a framework, the trio is now opening up discussion with the trade in a bid to re-write the apprenticeship standard. The Bicycle Mechanic proposal has already been approved for development by the Institute of Apprenticeships.

Feedback sought includes thoughts on the duties and knowledge, skills and behaviours of a competent bike mechanic. These pillars will form the basis of future training.

Cycler is made up of a group of over ten cycling industry employers, the majority of which are independent stores, with key suppliers and ACT members also pitching in.

To become involved in the discussion, first read through the proposed occupational standard here and then answer this quick survey to give your feedback. The deadline for submissions is February 23rd.
