Pearl Izumi’s spring 2018 catalogue breaks cover

Pearl Izumi has today introduced its Spring 2018 clothing collection, with significant changes to its road and mountain bike platforms, as well as a new gravel portolfio.

The launches shown at Eurobike today include:

PI Dirt collection
In what can be viewed as a broadening of the traditional mountain bike sector, Pearl has a whole new range designed to cater for everyone from trail to XC riders, even down to gravel and bike path riding. The new line of casual-focused Versa gear is designed to be just a good when you’re out riding singletrack as it is when you’re commuting.

PI/BLACK
As the pinnacle of Pearl Izumi’s technology, PI/BLACK is an exclusive collection of road clothing that features the very best that Pearl has to offer. Designed at Pearl Izumi’s Speed Shop in Colorado, the PI/BLACK line pioneers in both performance and aesthetics.

Developed through years of consultation with World Tour riders, the PI/BLACK collection debuts with four key styles all focused on helping riders perform to the highest possible level. These include the Pursuit/BLACK Mach 5 skinsuit worn by Rohan Dennis to the fastest individual TT in Tour de France history, and the Pursuit/BLACK bib shorts, which offer more compression than anything in the current Pearl line-up for maximum chamois stability and muscle support.

This premium collection debuts in North America in Spring 2018, and expect to see it in Europe for the beginning of 2019.

Pursuit Aero Collection
Ninety percent of the power a rider produces is used to overcome aerodynamic drag when riding on the flat. The Pursuit Aero Collection uses advances in pattern engineering, texture and shape to optimise airflow around the rider and a combination of Pearl’s patented Speed Sleeve and special textured aero fabric helps air flow to follow the rider’s body shape and significantly reduce drag.

New for this year is the Elite Pursuit Speed Jersey for men and women, which brings the technology down to a more accessible price point and available for all riders.

Road and Dirt Footwear

One of the most exciting releases for next year is Pearl lightest, stiffest and most breathable shoe to date: the P.R.O Leader v4.

The shoes use an advanced asymmetric upper to minimize pressure points and a sole joined using a unique unibody construction to deliver a super low 5mm stack height.

Off-road, and Pearl have responded to demand with their X-Alp Launch, its first ever flat pedal shoe. Designed to give riders confidence, control and enough comfort for all-day riding, the X-Alp Launch uses a dual compound Vibram Megagrip rubber outsole to balance durability with the ability to walk off the bike.
