Scottish Mountain Bike Conference to pull Gov and global insights

The three day annual Scottish Mountain Bike Conference will this year hear from the Scottish Government on its support the industry, marking a step change in the importance of a sector that is sharply expanding.

Taking place at the P&J Live, Aberdeen from 3rd to 5th November, the award-winning conference has for years brought together some of the most influential figures in mountain biking, industry leaders, academics and sector experts alongside the mountain bike community, and is now the second biggest global mountain bike conference.

This year’s seminars will update on the progress under the Scottish MTB Strategy 2019 – 2025 and attendees are told to look out for a number of key announcements during the course of the event.

The Scottish Government are to send representatives to speak on the growing importance of the industry and sport side of mountain biking to the country, while representatives from the 2023 Cycling World Championships will speak on how the event has the opportunity to profile Scotland and the sport like never before. The crux of this talk will centre on how the whole sector can engage and benefit from the event.

Added to word on the international events hosted in Scotland, international speakers will bring in outside knowledge too. Speakers from destinations such as Bentonville, Arkansas and Trysil, plus Norway will be sharing details of how a structured programme of investment into mountain bike trail and destination development has significantly impacted the economy and the health and well-being of the regions.

There will be a presentation of new research on eBike usage by the legend that is, Tracy Moseley. British Cycling and Edinburgh Napier University will be discussing trends and the positive and negative implications going into the future, sharing Scottish and British Cycling’s vision for the development of mountain biking in Scotland and across the UK. There will also be in depth discussions and presentations around mountain biking and mental health.
