Zedify wins CILT award for helping decarbonise urban logistics

Zedify was named one of the winners of the CILT Awards recently, amongst heavy hitting names like BAE, Stagecoach, Menzies Distribution and Transport for London.

The CILT (Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport) Awards for Excellence ran at the end of September with sustainable and eco-friendly delivery service Zedify picking up its award for its efforts in creating a zero-emission logistics network across the UK.

CILT said that Zedify scored the win because it was: “A terrific example of how best practice in moving freight in an urban environment can lead to genuine innovation. Zedify are seeking to decarbonise urban logistics. Our demand for last mile deliveries continues to expand explosively, at the same time as we aspire to net zero impact on our environment.

“Through partnerships with industry leading integrators and other private and public sector bodies, Zedify are demonstrating the ability to scale their model rapidly. Zedify are applying best practice ideas to redesign the network model to deliver an urban freight model fit for the 21st century.”

Earlier this year, Zedify won a £5 million investment to brings its bike delivery network to a wider area of the nation.

Zedify told Cycling Industry News that part of its recent efforts have been to convince the market that using cargo bikes “isn’t a cute gimmick but a powerful tool to effect change”.

It added: “Success within the carrier market has helped build our reputation and demonstrate successes to retailers, so we’re now experiencing a major uptick in interest from retailers who are ready to work with us.

“Our team of commercial, operational and partnership experts regularly attend and speak at industry events, to encourage brands to view the last mile differently – helping them understand the way they choose to deliver to their customers is as important as the products they sell. Delivery should not be an afterthought – it is an integral part of the customer experience.

“We partnered on a report with UNiDAYS, the go-to platform for university students, to better understand Gen Z’s buying habits and how retail brands can proactively meet their needs. Our findings show 67% of Gen Z-ers surveyed prefer brands that appeal to their social conscience; nearly half (48%) would be more likely to purchase a product if it was delivered by cargo bike while only 4% would be less likely to purchase.”
