Apidura dips toes in urban sector with new City Series launch

Adventure bikepacking brand Apidura has moved into the urban sector with the launch of its new City Series messenger bags.

The series will initially feature 11-inch and 13-inch messenger bags, designed with an anatomical, stable fit for riding alongside a one-handed zipless opening for easy on-bike access.

The bags are low-profile and feature subtle reflective elements for on-bike safety without drawing unwanted attention off the bike. Made from a bespoke waterproof and abrasion resistant marle fabric for an understated design, the bags are available as of 20 July 2020.

As one of the frontrunners in bikepacking, Apidura has transitioned its experience in creating technically advanced, lightweight gear for adventure riders to fit the urban environment in offering a simple, durable and versatile carry solution for city life.

The City Series takes influence from the brand’s ‘less is more’ design philosophies, says Founder Tori Fahey.

“Designing high-quality bikepacking gear is a unique challenge,” she said. “Bags are strapped to bike frames, rather than worn and easy, on-the-go access and weight distribution are paramount. The City Series is the culmination of our experience in precision crafting and applies our adventure proven processes to urban carry.

“The influence is clear through the easy one-handed zipless access and use of welded fabrics; these are not adventure pace, but they benefit from our unique design philosophies and will allow city dwellers to transition seamlessly from the bike to other activities, without drawing attention to the fact that you arrived by bike.”

Both messengers are available at launch and the City Series will join the Backcountry, Expedition and Racing Series as a central pillar of the brand’s product range.
